Body Building

I have always been interested in the sport of Body Building. Years ago I was preparing to enter my first comeptition when an illness sidelined me. After that other things in my life kept me from devoting the time and energy needed to participate fully. In 2005 a serious lung infection made me realize that my health was more important than the other things I was spending my time on. I decided that it was time to get back into the sport I had left earlier.

A lucky coincidence during Boxing Week led John and I to buy a good quality treadmill. With that, I began working on my cardio fitness. An Ontario Physique Association body building and physique show in April caught my eye. I decided would I need some professional help in order to get ready for it. It took some time to find a personal trainer that could work with me in my home. The April show was not realistic so I set my sights on a May 27th show in Mississauga. I trained hard and made good progress. I wasn't in perfect shape by the time the show came around but I felt good enough about myself to compete anyway.

In working out and preparing for the competition I learned that it is not about how you look on the stage, it is about how you feel in your life. The show was a good inspiration but I felt I had already won just by the way my health and fitness improved while I was training. You can see the results in these pictures. I am not finished with body building. My first competition has only made me more interested in the sport. Watch for further updates on my progress.
