We are looking forward to our next vacation together. This time it will be a little different because we are taking a cruise. We will spend 5 nights cruising in the western Caribbean on the Enchantment of the Sea a Royal Caribbean ship.
The idea for this cruise started with my brother, Ed. He sent an email about the cruise and the good deal that was being offered by a friend of ours who is a travel agent. When my whole family came over for Christmas we talked about it and the result was that Ed, his wife and their kids are going, my sister and one or two of her friends are going and Terri and I along with my daughter and Terri's mother are going.
I have never been on a cruise before. I did go to the Dominican Rebublic for a week in 1986 and ended up really bored by the end of it. I am not the kind of person who enjoys just laying in the sun all day. The ship looks interesting though and what I am rerally looking forward to is the nighttime. I have seen cruises offered in the back of astronomy magazines where they take you out to sit under the path of a total eclipse. I think that would be awesome. On this cruise I hope I can find a dark place on the ship to look at the stars. Being on the ocean and away from all the light polution that I normally have to deal with has the potential of providing some great viewing of the night sky.
Our trip will be in late November. The ship sails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida so we have to book air travel down there. Fortunately our friend is going to take care of all the details and keep us informed. We just have to pay him once he books things. The latest bit of news is that the deposit that was supposed to be due in July is now due in February. I will keep you posted on what other changes develop.
